HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE OPENING DAY OF DUBAI FASHION WEEK SS’25
Rizman Ruzaini launched the Spring/Summer 2025 runway shows with their latest collection, ‘Mustika,’ drawing inspiration from the film Perempuan Melayu Terakhir (“The Last Malay Woman”) and reimagining the timeless elegance of the kebaya and batik in tribute to cultural heritage. Amjad Khalil’s Haute Couture Collection, ‘Beyond Black,’ captivated audiences with its theme of transformation from darkness to light, as each dress embodied a distinct mood and personal journey. Erick Bendana’s ‘505’ collection artfully merged Nicaraguan cultural identity with urban chic, featuring prints inspired by traditional dances and symbols, and culminating in stunning evening and bridal gowns. Additionally, the La Moda Italiana: Dubai Edition exhibition, a collaboration between Dubai Fashion Week and the Italian Trade Agency, showcased the excellence of Italian fashion through 25 prestigious brands, marking the first such exhibition in the UAE.

His Excellency Lorenzo Fanara, Ambassador of Italy to the UAE, visited the inaugural ‘La Moda Italiana: Dubai Edition,’ celebrating Italian fashion excellence and emphasizing the strong cultural and economic ties between Italy and the UAE, with 25 prestigious Italian brands on display. Spanish brand Adolfo Domínguez introduced its Autumn-Winter 2024 IKIGAI collection, combining tradition with contemporary style and sustainability. Renowned designer Ihab Jiryis presented his Spring/Summer 2025 collection, highlighting femininity, growth, and empowerment, while DFW member Victor Weinsanto debuted “Lady de Weinsanto,” featuring oversized silhouettes, vibrant colours, and bold accessories. Indian brand ITRH made a grand entrance with “Natak,” a collection inspired by Indian theatre, reimagining traditional silhouettes with luxurious details. Designers & Us mesmerized the audience with a “Phantom of the Opera” themed showcase, offering elegant designs inspired by the diverse attendees of the opera era. Swarovski also introduced its ‘Created Diamonds’ collection for the first time in the region at an exclusive event at La Dame De Pic.

Dima Ayad’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection celebrated the power of femininity through inclusive and sophisticated designs, while the NIFD School of Trends highlighted the creativity of emerging fashion talent. Anaya’s collection, ‘Gaudí’s Reverie,’ fused exceptional craftsmanship with vibrant, nature-inspired motifs, bringing Antoni Gaudí’s architectural genius to life through intricate techniques. Emirati designer Heba Jasmi debuted ‘State of Art,’ featuring innovative embroidery and flowing volumes that honored the female form. Mrs. Keepa premiered her short film ‘Need Therapy’ at VOX Cinemas, while Michael Cinco closed day three with a stunning showcase blending the opulence of ancient Rome with contemporary designs, and debuted the Michael Cinco Luxury Micro Diamond Collection. The Italian Trade Agency wrapped up its exhibition, presenting 25 top Italian brands alongside Dubai Fashion Week.

Threads Talks featured dynamic discussions among fashion experts, focusing on emerging retail formats, digital consumer strategies, and storytelling. RIVA unveiled its Fall/Winter 2024 collection, combining luxurious textures and intricate details to create a blend of timeless elegance and modern chic. CHOICE’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection honored womanhood with 70s-inspired, monochromatic pieces while celebrating Dubai’s cultural heritage and inclusivity. India-born label Deme by Gabriella made its DFW debut with a collection that fused Greek Cypriot heritage with African and Indian influences. Heaven Lights also debuted at DFW with the ‘Solaraine’ collection, showcasing 30 elegant modest fashion looks. Malaysian designer Alia Bastamam presented her inaugural collection, ‘Odyssey: Act III,’ exploring themes of self-discovery and empowerment. Viva Vox closed day four by transforming the runway into an immersive canvas for reflection, while Bil Arabi launched its latest jewelry collection during an exclusive dinner with key fashion figures at Chez Wam.

The FAD Institute introduced 20 emerging designers from its program, reaffirming its position as a leader in nurturing innovative fashion talent in the region. REBORN’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection showcased designs for fast-paced living, while Ibrahim Shebani’s Born In Exile collection paid homage to Libya’s cultural heritage. April & Alex wowed the audience at Dubai Fashion Week with a stunning collection that fused bold, avant-garde designs with sophisticated elegance. Indonesian designer Benang Jarum made a striking return with the “Forest Toile” collection, featuring classic motifs, modern stripes, and intricate embroidery. Buttonscarves captivated audiences with its ‘Lucent Dark’ collection, with the Ambassador of Indonesia to the UAE, H.E. Husin Bagis, in attendance. Additionally, Instagram and the Arab Fashion Council hosted an intimate dinner with fashion leaders to discuss the impact of social media on fashion and the future of digital marketing.
Last night, Roberto Cavalli closed Dubai Fashion Week SS25 with a spectacular signature show, marking the iconic fashion house’s debut at the event as Guest of Honour. The showcase, featuring an exclusive edit curated by Creative Director Fausto Puglisi, brought an exciting finale to a week filled with runway shows, panel discussions, exclusive dinners, and capsule launches across the city for the Spring/Summer 2025 edition.
